Hello Adventurers!

A Story We Tell Ourselves, the next comic that will be serialized here, continues to form, shifting from a miasma of description into living, breathing images.

I'm thrilled for you to see this comic for several reasons, particularly because it was a challenging piece to write. It's an experimental work and part of my exploration into how time unfolds in the realm of comics—a topic I'm on record as being fascinated with. 

Here's a glimpse of our recent progress:

OMG, right?

While Gaze was a concise 10-page short, Story is a full-sized 30-page color comic! It might even grow longer as Anna continues illustrating the script. There’s always the possibility that a comic grows by a few panels or an extra page as the artist translates words into images, so we'll see. One thing is clear: Anna and I have our work ahead of us.

As we continue crafting this evil tale, I'll drop by here to give significant updates.

UPDATE!

I've turned pledges on! 

For A Story We Tell Ourselves, I will turn on Substack's subscription system. If you'd like to support this comic financially, you can pledge any amount that suits you right now (be aware that Substack sets the minimum pledge to $5).

Once the comic story starts, your pledge will automatically convert into a paid subscription at the frequency and amount you pledged. Once the story concludes, subscriptions will be turned off.

Story should run for about five or six weeks and is highly unlikely to run for longer than a month, which might help you decide on your pledge level. I’ll release a few pages each week, just like I did with Gaze.

Regardless of whether anyone chooses to pledge or not, Story will be accessible to all. I may provide something extra to folks who end up with a paying subscription, but I'm still determining what that will be. More to come on that front.

Any funds generated from this story will be reinvested into paying artists for their invaluable contributions to creating more comics.
